She was the daughter Paula Niedert who is an actress/comedian and Chris Elliott. Abby Elliott is the granddaughter of radio comedy Bob Elliott. When she was at Our Lady of Fatima School Wilton when she was young, she loved acting in the school productions. When she was a child, at a young age she knew she wanted to be an actor. In 2005, following her had graduated from Immaculate High School, she went to Marymount Manhattan College but left during the first term.
